LEED v4/4.1 July 2024 addenda: new energy performance calculators and more

Two new LEED energy performance calculators released through the July LEED addenda are available now on USGBC’s website:

The LEED v4 2024 Update Minimum Energy Performance Calculator was published on July 19, 2024. It reflects the LEED v4 energy update that came into effect on March 1, 2024. This calculator is for those using the ASHRAE 90.1 pathway. For those interested in utilizing Canada’s NECB 2011 for projects registered to LEED v4 after the March update, CAGBC is currently revising the NECB version of the calculator to reflect the energy update. It will be released this fall.

The Large Scale District Energy Calculator was published on July 19, 2024. This calculator provides a streamlined path for documenting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions savings from district energy systems (DES) based on information commonly available through District Energy Providers.

There were several other updates in the July addenda of interest to Canadian LEED users including:

  • Pilot Alternative Compliance Path (ACP) EQpc165: Minimum Indoor Air Quality Performance: IAQP Compliance Path was updated on July 17, 2024, making it applicable to LEED for Interior Design and Construction projects.
  • A LEED Addenda correction to LEED v4.1 BD+C and ID+C beta guides regarding required documentation for EQc Low Emitting Materials, will include the VOC emissions evaluation documentation for any finish or treatment applied off-site (if applicable).
  • Four new interpretations for LEED for Multifamily Midrise and LEED Residential users were released, including LEED Interpretation 10511 which provides important clarifications related to radon requirements for non-residential space in mixed-use buildings.

See the July 2024 addenda for these and other updates.
