About Us

Building our way forward

The Canada Green Building Council supports the building sector’s transition to buildings that are better for people and the planet. We believe green buildings are powerful tools for positive change. Why? They keep people healthier, make communities resilient, lower impacts on the environment, and reduce carbon emissions.

Together with our members, we’re doing great things.

Who we are

We aren’t alone in our mission to make every building greener. CAGBC members play an active role in the Council through our volunteer committees and special accelerators. Our volunteer Board of Directors represent a wide range of industries and geographic regions. Our thousands of members include designers, architects, engineers, construction companies, owners and operators – all the people and businesses involved in the design, construction and operation of buildings.

If you are interested in being part of the forefront of sustainability, CAGBC membership could be for you too.

What we do

CAGBC provides the products and services the building sector needs to construct and manage buildings that are easier on resources, healthier for people, and more cost-effective. We work with the sector to influence standards, develop best practices, and educate the market on the benefits of green buildings.

We also help shape the future of green building through market-led research, educational programming, and by providing access to the world’s leading certification and rating systems. Our government advocacy efforts help shape the government programs and policies Canada needs to accelerate green buildings, lower carbon emissions, and deliver on more sustainable, resilient and equitable communities.

Our members are united in our vision for a greener future.
