Welcome to Building Lasting Change 2026

Over two decades ago, sustainability in buildings was still an emerging concept. Today, it is a defining force shaping how we design, build, and live.

Since 2002, the Canada Green Building Council has played a pivotal role in accelerating that transformation, challenging our industry to think bigger, act boldly, and move with purpose toward a low-carbon future.

The progress is real. Zero-emission buildings are no longer aspirational; they are happening across Canada.

Now, our focus turns to what’s next.

As we prepare to come together at Building Lasting Change, we are faced with an important question: how do we scale this progress? How do we make zero-emission, high-performance buildings the standard?

This conference is an opportunity to explore those answers. It is a space to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate the work ahead.

As Honorary Conference Chair, I am inspired by the commitment this community continues to demonstrate. I look forward to welcoming you next month and to the important conversations we will have.

Together, we’ve made meaningful progress. Together, we will go further.

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
