Canada’s premier green building event is back. Returning June 17–19 at the Centre Sheraton Montréal, CAGBC’s Building Lasting Change™ (BLC) conference continues to support, inspire and lead what’s next for Canada’s growing green building sector.

Where industry aligns

The Keynote Plenary offers an essential discussion on the financial forces driving the future of green real estate. Peter Howard, founder of Zfolio, takes the stage. As global capital markets increasingly price in climate risk, high-performance, low-carbon assets are transforming how institutional investors evaluate long-term value. To remain competitive globally, Canada’s real estate sector must align its development strategies with sustainable finance requirements, leveraging credible certifications to attract major investments and strengthen portfolios. Mr. Howard will share macro-level insights on how global capital is actively redefining asset valuation, drawing on his 20 years of expertise across sustainable finance, climate resilience, and clean technology.

Following the keynote, Peter will join a panel moderated by CAGBC President and CEO Thomas Mueller. Alongside Kathleen Beaumont (Managing Director of Sustainable Investing, IMCO), Ali Hoss (Head of Sustainability & Asset Optimization, Colliers), and Fanny Doucet (Managing Director & Head, Sustainable Finance at Scotiabank), the panel will dive into how institutional investors assess building performance through a lens of risk and return, how capital markets scale investment through sustainable finance, and why credible certifications provide the transparency investors demand.
