CAGBC relies on amazing volunteers to support our rating system development and implementation. Our programs are developed with the insight and experience of owners, developers, and professional practitioners in the Canadian market. Their guidance and advice ensure our clients benefit from market-ready and accessible tools and solutions.

The Zero Carbon Steering Committee (ZCSC) was created to support the development and enhancements to CAGBC’s Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) programs, both Design and Performance. The work for this committee has grown over time from expanding monthly meetings to biweekly, and with a 50 percent increase to meeting length. Yet, the commitment of these professionals is unwavering as they donate their expertise to guide the work that needs to be done.

We are pleased to welcome a new chair to ZCSC: Peter Whitred assumed the chair role in August 2025. Peter, the General Manager of Accessibility, Corporate Sustainability, and ESG at Canada Post, joined ZCSC two years ago and has shown a steady and balanced perspective for guiding the direction of the ZCB program. We thank outgoing chair Wendy MacDonald, Sustainability Consultant at RJC Engineers, for her commitment, passion, and guidance these last two years, and her committee work over the previous seven years. Wendy, the 2017 recipient of CAGBC’s Ed Lim Technical Volunteer Award , has offered her time to CAGBC in various volunteer capacity continuously for over 20 years. Wendy currently remains on CAGBC’s Energy & Engineering Technical Advisory Committee (TAG).
