Call for Volunteers: Join the Learning and Development Volunteer Committee

The Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) invites dedicated and passionate individuals to become members of the Learning and Development Volunteer Committee. This committee plays a crucial role in shaping the future of learning strategies, programs, and curriculums on low carbon and zero carbon within the green building sector, contributing to the creation of healthier, more sustainable, residential and commercial buildings and communities across Canada.

Purpose:

The Learning Committee is responsible for advising CAGBC on the development of learning strategies, programs, and curriculum to advance knowledge and skills in low/zero carbon practices within the green building sector. 

Objectives: 

  • Provide strategic advice on industry learning needs 
  • Assist in the development of CAGBC learning targets and goals 
  • Support CAGBC’s Learning subcommittees, task forces, and working groups 
  • Collaborate on the development of learning initiatives, including faculty referral, curriculum and course content development 
Requirements: 
  • Committee Members will be chosen based on their expertise on low carbon and zero carbon concepts and competencies and their ability to contribute to the development of capacity within the Canadian green building market. 
  • Desired representation from the following sectors/groups:
    • Building design and construction
    • Building owners and managers
    • Contractors and manufacturers
    • Sustainability consultants
    • Contractors and developers
    • CAGBC Board
    • Continuing education practitioners
  • Committee members must be individual members or employees of CAGBC corporate members.

Committee meetings will be conducted online bi-monthly with each meeting lasting 90 minutes.

Interested parties should submit their application by email to education@cagbc.org by September 30, 2025, and indicate “Application for Learning and Development Volunteer Committee – [your name]” in the subject line. Please include:

  • a brief cover email that articulates:
    • your area of interest and specifying the committee of interest,
    • how your skill set matches those outlined above, and,
    • where relevant for the committee, your project experience (e.g., your roles on LEED and ZCB projects);
  • curriculum vitae (or link to LinkedIn profile or another relevant site); 
  • current LEED credentials (e.g., LEED Accredited Professional speciality), if any; and, 
  • your organization’s membership status – applications are open only to individuals who hold a CAGBC membership or staff of organizations with an active CAGBC corporate membership. 

Applicants will start to be informed of application status by October 10, 2025.
