Step 1:
LEED Green Associate
The LEED Green Associate credential offers a foundational understanding of green building principles and working with LEED. CAGBC offers two ways to help you prepare for the LEED GA exam, each including 10+ hours of instruction, slides with notes, and over 500 practice exam questions.
- Last day to take the LEED v4 version of the exam: April 26, 2026
- LEED v5 (beta) exam launches: April 28, 2026 (English only)
CAGBC LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE EXAM KICKSTARTER:
Held multiple times a year, Kickstarters offer live, virtual interaction with an instructor and a small group of learners over several sessions.
CAGBC GREEN ASSOCIATE EXAM PREP COURSE:
A self-paced, on-demand learning experience through the CAGBC Learning Hub.

Step 2:
LEED AP with Specialty
The LEED AP credential distinguishes those with advanced knowledge in green building, plus expertise in a particular LEED rating system. The LEED GA exam can be taken with the LEED AP exam or as a prerequisite. Previous work experience on LEED projects is strongly recommended.
