The Guides for LEED Certification provide critical information regarding submitting your LEED project for review, including important deadlines.
Initial submittal deadlines:
- For LEED BD+C and ID+C rating systems, project teams need to submit for standard or construction phase review no later than two years after substantial completion of their building or space (the date on which the building receives a certificate of occupancy or similar indication that it is fit and ready for use). For LEED O+M, project teams with initial certifications and recertifications are required to submit for review within 60 days of the end of the performance period to ensure the certification reflects recent building performance.
Sunset deadline:
- These above submission expectations are different than the sunset date. Each rating system version remains open for certification after the close of registrations for a period until the version sunset date. At the time of the sunset, all submissions for that version must have been provided, or the project must upgrade to a more recent version of LEED. While work on LEED v5 has begun, LEED v4 has not yet closed for registration and therefore no sunset date has yet been set.
If your project has difficulty meeting a submission deadline, please reach out to LEED Coach Canada.
