With growing demand for transparency and accountability in building performance, the upcoming release of the Zero Carbon Building – Performance Standard v3 will reflect the latest approaches, data, and best practices in carbon accounting and zero carbon performance. The next version will introduce new requirements that respond to evolving industry needs, advance decarbonization efforts, and strengthen the credibility and impact of performance certification – all serving to enhance the value of the program.

During a special forum at this year’s Building Lasting Change™ (BLC) conference, happening June 18–20 in Vancouver, CAGBC will unveil the potential direction and key updates to the Zero Carbon Building – Performance Standard™. The interactive forum will cover the latest decisions and rationale behind the next version of the standard and will present an opportunity to contribute to the development cycle of the newest version. In a collaborative conversation, attendees will engage with CAGBC staff and technical committee members as they explore critical elements shaping the future of existing buildings and their path to decarbonization ranging from key performance metrics and public disclosure to decarbonization pathways and the evolving role of carbon credits. The session will also examine how certification can better support portfolio-level goals and reporting.
