Jon Douglas, Director of Sustainability, Menkes
"Menkes' Healthy Space Program"
Jon is the Director of Sustainability for Menkes Developments Ltd which is a fully integrated real estate company involved in the construction, ownership and management of office, industrial, and retail properties, with a primary focus on the Greater Toronto Area. He is responsible for sustainability strategic development and overseeing the implementation of practices and standards that reinforce the Menkes’ commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. He holds an MBA from Western University’s Ivey School of Business and he was named a young Sustainability Leaders in Canada by Corporate Knights.

Annie Bergeron, Design Director, Principal, Gensler
"Biophilic Design and How It Extends Beyond Just Plants and Wood Finishes"
Annie Bergeron’s work on high-tech companies and advertising agencies has put her on the cutting edge of creative workplaces. As a Gensler Design Principal with 25 years’ experience, Annie develops inspiring thought leadership content, and guides teams in the creation of exceptional design solutions for projects of all sizes, all the way up to 1.8M SF.

Her awards include the Ryerson Award of Recognition for Design Excellence from her alma mater, and over a dozen ARIDO Awards. Product design awards from NEOCON, and VMSD Awards for visual merchandising demonstrate her versatility. Annie’s never met a rule she didn’t want to break, even if just a little. From year-round cycling commuting for 28 years, to French literature and sneakers, her range of interests is eclectic and her passion apparent.

Jesse Klimitz, Director – Human Space, Quadrangle
"Well-being in the Multi-Unit Residential Sector"
As the Director of Human Space, Jesse is responsible for oversight of the consulting practice and its strategic growth. In addition to high level leadership, Jesse also engages in key accessibility and wellness projects, public speaking and educating others. Jesse is a registered Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects and a Human Centred Design Strategist with experience in residential, commercial, mixed-use and accessibility consulting on major institutional projects, including the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games sports venues. Jesse is also the Director of Business Development at Quadrangle, leading an in-house team of marketing, research, design and communication professionals.

Diana Smiciklas, Sustainability Advisor, Perkins and Will
"Well-being in a Hybrid Future"
Diana’s passion for sustainability began as an interior designer after quickly realizing the impacts of the built environment on the natural environment. This encouraged her to focus her career and become a sustainability consultant in corporate real estate where she fostered her knowledge in understanding the necessary synergy between sustainable design and the health and wellness of building occupants. However, her desire for design again led Diana to her current role as a sustainability advisor at Perkins and Will where she focuses on sustainability, health and wellness, and resiliency when implementing best practices within design and managing building certifications.

The Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter is Southern Ontario’s leading authority on green building best practices.

With an ever-growing network of over 3,500 building industry professionals, the Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter is dedicated to creating a cleaner, healthier, high-performance built environment through education, collaboration and innovation.  We work with both government and private enterprise to accelerate the adoption of green building principles, policies, standards and tools. We are the primary organization responsible for the facilitation and delivery of LEED workshops in Southern Ontario and provides a wide range of educational and networking events for our members and the green building community at large.
