This half-day workshop will introduce you to zero carbon buildings, with particular emphasis on the CaGBC's Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) Standard. Participants will be equipped with important foundational knowledge, as well as an understanding of how the ZCB Standard could potentially be used for their current or future projects. The workshop covers the requirements of the Zero Carbon Building Standard for both new and existing buildings. This workshop provides the opportunity to learn from a subject matter expert in a facilitated environment. Exercises and group discussion helps to reinforce the material. Note: This workshop is not intended to provide professional level knowledge on how to develop strategies or prepare supporting documentation for program compliance.

This workshop introduces the concepts, key elements and requirements of the WELL Building Standard, the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. Attendees learn how WELL can be used to support human health and wellness in buildings. The structure and certification process of WELL are reviewed, as well as the health basis for key WELL Concept Areas. Strategies for improving air, water, nutrition, light, fitness, comfort, and mental health through building design and operations are explored. Case studies are also highlighted.

Introduction to the Changes in LEED v4 | Register for this event »
Instructor: James Furlong, MCW Group of Companies
This course covers the changes in LEED v4 from previous versions and discusses how the new rating system will improve current green building practices in Canada. During the course, we discuss the flexibility in LEED v4 and its applicability to an expanded range of building types. We also explore common themes in the new rating system, synergies within the system, and the new performance requirements. Participants learn about the new integrative process credit as well as the enhanced LEED v4 systems goals and their impact on LEED point allocation. After this workshop, you should be able to communicate effectively to colleagues and clients about some of the major changes occurring in LEED v4. Please note that this course is not a technical review course and it does not delve into each credit of the rating system.

Alberta Economic Development & Trade leads annual programming to international conferences & trade shows. 2018 and 2019 brings Alberta to the International Builder’s show (February 2019), and Greenbuild International Conference & Expo (November 14-16, 2018).
