Monitoring for Human Performance and IEQ in Buildings

DURATION: 1 hour

Today, the industry is awash in health-related goals and strategies intended create better indoor environmental quality and promote health and well-being. Green building professionals need new skills to connect the aspirations of design with measured outcomes during operation. These are new issues for many architects and engineers, and they are supported by an increasingly diverse -- and sometimes confusing -- array of strategies and tools. Data from this kind of monitoring can also raise important questions about issues including landlord-tenants relationships, legal liability, data quality, and more.

This course dives into these issues and provide a fast-paced review of the science, technology, and practice of monitoring operational performance for people and indoor environmental quality. We will talk about how we measure, what we can measure, and why it matters. Participants will come away from the course with a clear sense of the state-of-the-market and practical insights for the road ahead.

This course is delivered by Dr. Chris Pyke, the Chief Strategy Officer for Aclima, as well as a principal investigator for the Green Health Partnership. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer for GRESB and the Vice President for Research at the US Green Building Council.
