Designing to Net Zero with a Net Zero Schedule

DURATION: 1 hour

Mohawk College is a committed leader in sustainability. The college's new Centre for Partnership and Innovation is one of the CaGBC Zero Carbon Building pilot projects, and is also a part of the WGBC Net Zero Initiative. The project, led by expert consultants including McCallum Sather, B+H Architects, and RDH Building Science, has been driven by a net zero energy budget and has garnered national attention, including that of The Joyce Family Foundation and the federal government.

This session will discuss how, through a unique owner/expert consultant solutions-based collaboration, Mohawk College navigated the challenges of a net zero energy mandated project. This includes the design of a living lab for sustainable technologies within a highly-accelerated project schedule to qualify for the federal government's Substantial Completion funding deadline, two years after the contract was awarded.

This course is delivered by Dr. Tony Cupido, Chief Building and Facilities Officer of Mohawk College and Joanne McCallum, Co-founder and Director of mcCallumSather
