RETROFITS: Beyond Energy Efficiency

DURATION: 9 hours
This includes sessions delivered during Day 4 of CaGBC's 2020 annual Conference, Building Lasting Change (BLC), delivered in Fall 2020.

Over 80 per cent of all buildings standing in 2030 have already been built. As a result, today's buildings represent the greatest opportunity for immediate net reductions in carbon emissions. Without tackling existing buildings, Canada cannot reach its emissions reduction goal. Large building retrofits create jobs, spur economic growth, and deliver cost savings to owners. This stream recognizes that large building retrofit must be a driving force in Canada's transformation to a low-carbon economy and will address a range of asset classes where the most significant gains can be made, including offices, retail, multi-residential, and institutional buildings. Presentations include the latest research on retrofit, project case studies with hands-on experience, retrofit best practices to combat project challenges, and financing solutions for retrofit projects.
