LEED® Canada CS 1.0
Certification support for this rating system closed June 21, 2017. New projects must register under LEED v4.
LEED® Canada for Core and Shell (CS) is a derivative of LEED Canada NC and applies to buildings where less than 50% of the building area will be fit-up to LEED Canada NC requirements prior to certification.
Like the LEED Canada NC rating system, LEED Canada CS applies to new construction and major renovations of commercial and institutional buildings, i.e., buildings regulated by Part 3 of the National Building Code. Generally, projects using LEED Canada CS are office occupancies where the developer has no control over the final interior fit-ups of the tenant.
LEED Canada CS 1.0 certification is made possible through the Application Guide for Core and Shell Buildings and Leased Tenant Spaces, which not only provides details for achieving LEED Canada CS 1.0 certification, but also provides flexibility and guidance in applying LEED Canada NC 1.0 to leased tenant spaces. Specifically, it makes allowance for some leased tenant space that is not fit-up to NC requirements at the time of certification.
The application guide, published in July 2008, applies retroactively to allow everyone to benefit from its flexibility.

LEED Canada-NC 1.0
The LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Application Guides are equally applicable to LEED Canada-CS 1.0 projects. For example, LEED Canada-CS 1.0 projects may apply campus pathways or use multiple building allowances found in the Application Guide for Campuses and Multiple Buildings.
The LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Application Guides are available to members through the following links. Non-members may purchase these documents in the Online Store. Following purchase, the documents will be available in the My Documents section of My CaGBC.

Application Guide for Campuses and Multiple Buildings (pdf) - provides guidance and alternative pathways to help comply with the LEED Canada-NC 1.0 rating system. Includes the Interpretation Guide for District Energy Systems (DES). Updated versions of the DES interpretation guide and non-traditional fuels (NTF) guidance have been published here. LEED Canada-NC 1.0 projects have the option to pursue EAp2 and EAc1 using the new DES interpretation guide, and are encouraged to adopt the new NTF guidance.

LEED Canada-NC 1.1b Letter Templates (February 2008) (xls) - supports the addendum changes to LEED Canada-NC 1.0 and provides pathways in support of the Application Guide forMulti-Unit Residential Buildings. Although these LEED Letter Templates do not contain specific Core&Shell pathways, applicants should use this version and markup signed copies with any Core & Shell specific requirements for their declarations. Also available: Download a PDF outlining the changes made to Letter Template 1.1a.

LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Letter Templates (xls) - supports the LEED Canada-NC 1.0 Rating System and Reference Guide released December 2004. Generally these LEED Letter Templates should not be used for LEED Canada-CS projects as the Application Guide for Core and Shell Buildings and Leased Tenant Spaces was based on LEED Canada-NC 1.0 + addendum. Applicants should use instead the version LEED Canada-NC 1.1b Letter Templates. However, older projects (registered before February 29, 2008) may use the older templates at their discretion.
