Innovation Series Innovation Series

CaGBC’s Innovation Series explores the latest solutions and strategies for the specific technical and market challenges inherent in designing, constructing and managing high-performance sustainable buildings.

The Innovation Series encourages dialogue around leading-edge solutions for the green building industry, helping it tackle the challenge of creating high-performing and resilient buildings, communities, and cities.

The Series will feature different forum topics, explored in interactive sessions including educational presentations, an interactive moderated panel and networking opportunities. The Forums will take place in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and other strategic markets across Canada.

In 2020, the Innovation Series will include three forums, starting with Understanding Embodied Carbon. Later in the year, forums will focus on Leveraging Smart Building Technology, and Navigating Alternative Energy Solutions.

Leveraging Smart Building Technology

The critical next decade of climate action will see Canada work collectively to lower carbon emissions in order to meet the country’s global commitments. The building industry is responsible for 17 per cent of all GHG emissions and must look to innovative solutions for carbon reductions, including operational performance.

Direct Current (DC) low voltage building systems are a solution for Zero Carbon Buildings that can reduce overall electricity draws, improve safety, increase the utility of onsite renewables and enable electrification. Together, this provides more streamlined and integrated smart building functionality.

This event brings together industry expertise to explore the opportunities and advantages for DC low voltage buildings, and considerations for building design, construction, and operations to ensure the best possible outcomes.
