Jumpstart your green building career

The LEED Strategic Practices (LSP) Program is an affordable, seven-course certificate program delivered via virtual classroom. Learn from home or the office – at your own pace. The program provides hands-on experience with the documentation and tools used on actual LEED projects, giving participants the essential skills and knowledge to begin working on LEED projects immediately after completing the program. Participants can register for each course individually, or save 15 per cent by signing up for the full seven-course program.

This program is being updated to reflect LEED v4. This new iteration utilizes the online LEED Credit Library, and features some new materials and assignments. These courses will be available beginning Septeber 18, 2019.

Course Description

Learn about the LEED rating system and the specific program requirements and terminology used within the LEED framework. Topics include: Minimum Project Requirements (MPRs) for LEED certification registration; selecting the appropriate LEED Rating System based on project scope; and the use of the Integrated Design Process (IDP). The course also covers the importance of establishing a LEED project boundary and common terms and acronyms.

Course Description

In this course, students establish an understanding of the general design process schedule, as well as critical interjection points for LEED requirements and documentation. Learn how to assign roles and responsibilities to project teams for each credit and determine the specific role of the LEED consultant as a project resource, the role of a project manager, and the role of a quality controller.

Course Description

Learn about the credits that are inherent to the project site and which ones should be considered during the site selection process. This course also covers aspects of site development that can contribute to LEED credits, such as parking, heat island effect, stormwater management, open space, light pollution, landscape design and building design adaptations that can be made to improve water efficiency.

The Commissioning Process

Course Description

Learn the benefits of the commissioning process (Cx), the responsibilities of the Cx Authority, along with the documentation requirements as applied in LEED projects, including the differences between the prerequisite and the credit requirements.

Indoor Air Quality Credits

Course Description

Establishes an understanding of the benefits that are provided to building occupants by delivering a healthy indoor environment and the various aspects that need to be considered. Students learn the documentation that is required for Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) credits including the reduction of source emissions, ventilation, thermal comfort, acoustic quality and the provisions of daylight and views.

LEED Certification Process and Procedures

Course Description

Gain an understanding of the requirements needed for the Innovations and Regional Priority credits and how they should be documented. This course addresses the LEED certification process, timelines and how to respond to requests from LEED review teams. In addition, it covers effective building policy development as it relates to operations.

LSP Full Program

LSP Full Program

Register for all seven courses of the LEED Strategic Practices Program and get a 15 per cent discount. Participants receive access to the courses one at a time, with six weeks to complete each. A full program certificate is provided upon successful completion of all seven courses. Graduates are invited to CaGBC’s LSP Alumni Community Hub, and eligible for exclusive job shadowing opportunities. Receive up to 100 hours of GBCI continuing education credits.
