LEED Impact Report

Canada 2018

Canada has been ranked second in the U.S. Green Building Council’s annual Top 10 Countries and Regions for LEED certified projects. LEED buildings support Canada’s climate action efforts. Since 2005, LEED certified buildings have reduced over three million MT of greenhouse gases, 16.7 million eMWh of energy and 30 billion litres of water.

Curated by the USGBC, this LEED Top 10 list recognizes markets outside the U.S. that are using LEED to create healthier, more sustainable spaces where citizens live, learn, work and play. Overall LEED numbers in 2018 demonstrate the growing impact across Canada. LEED’s end of year totals for 2018 were strong, with a total of 313 LEED projects certified between January 1 and December 31. This brings the grand total of certified projects in Canada to 4,025.
