Energy Benchmarking Data Analysis Workshop

Benchmarking is critical for effectively managing buildings and energy and provides a foundation for decision-making about energy use. It also helps owners document energy and cost savings and look for measures to improve efficiency, based on past performance. This ½-day interactive session focuses on the benefits of energy benchmarking and how it can improve the future performance of a building – ultimately cutting energy-related costs, while maintaining occupant satisfaction. Participants will gain hands on experience using the Energy Star Portfolio Manager, to collect and analyze performance data.

Applying NECB 2017 - Nova Scotia
Complying with the NECB 2017 energy code is now a requirement in Nova Scotia and there are many questions around what performance requirements are actually in the code and how it will impact your project. Will we need to significantly change the way we design and build buildings in Nova Scotia? Does the NECB mean all new buildings have to have less than 30% windows? How do the new thermal bridging requirements work? My project uses a construction type that cannot meet the high R-value requirements; will I still be able to meet code? These and many other questions will be answered in this eye-opening course, where the main objective is to empower designers, owners, developers and code officials to navigate and implement the NECB with more confidence.

Building Carbon Literacy Workshop
Understanding energy use is critical, but energy reductions alone will not address the issue of ever-increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as the local grid also impacts emissions. This issue is important not only for building owners and their employee, but also policymakers in municipalities looking at carbon reduction targets. This interactive ½-day carbon literacy workshop will explore how energy relates to emissions, while focusing on providing participants with hands on experience in relation to GHG emissions at the building level.
Nov 18
Energy Benchmarking Stakeholders Roundtable - NB, NL & PEI
This CaGBC hosted virtual roundtable will convene key private and public players in NB, NL & PEI to work toward identifying concrete market-based measures and supporting public policies to build and grow broader adoption of energy benchmarking programs and supporting policy incentives.
