Zero Carbon Buildings Program Analyst

Ottawa, ON - 1 year contract

Reporting to the VP Green Building Programs, the Zero Carbon Building Program Analyst supports the day to day operations of the Zero Carbon Building Program including technical reviews and the development of the Zero Carbon Building Standard and associated tools. The position also supports the project management and delivery of zero carbon and green building initiatives. Working closely with the Zero Carbon Building Program Manager, as well as the Marketing and Education teams, this position is responsible for helping to foster uptake of the Zero Carbon Building Standard in Canada.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced green building professional to help contribute to and shape the future of zero carbon and green buildings in Canada. This dynamic role within a growing program comes with potential for career growth and is the ideal role for a passionate professional interested in the decarbonization of buildings. This is a one (1) year contract with an opportunity for extension or permanent status, based on requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the Zero Carbon Building Standard and associated guidance and tools
  • Conduct technical project reviews for Zero Carbon Building certification applicants
  • Provide coaching to project teams on the technical requirements of the Zero Carbon Building Standard
  • Carry out assigned projects including research, writing, review and editing of briefs, business cases, reports, presentations and other materials as required.
  • Support business development, including leading business opportunities, and preparing proposals
  • Be responsible for managing and tracking assigned budgets and project reporting.
  • Support the development and delivery of educational and promotional materials
  • Project management and technical support for the development of various educational events
  • Assist with customer service inquiries related to the Zero Carbon Building Standard

You possess:

  • 5+ years experience in sustainable/low-carbon building design/operation in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of low carbon building policies and programs in Canada
  • Demonstrated project management experience, and ability to manage projects with multiple moving parts
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering, building energy systems architecture, environment, sustainability or a related area; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience researching, interpreting and analyzing standards and policy documents is an asset
  • Commitment and passion about green building as a solution to climate change and CaGBC’s mission
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills required to work effectively with colleagues and external parties, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently and apply problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office with an emphasis on Excel skills and knowledge
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
