Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) is acting now to create the change we need, because what is considered green today must be challenged to have an impact tomorrow.

You are passionate about environmental sustainability and keen to draw on your expertise  in stakeholder engagement and adult education pathways to support CaGBC’s efforts to create a favourable marketplace for green building.

As part of the Advocacy and Market Engagement team, the Partnership and Learning Advisor will contribute to the development and delivery of projects related to CaGBC’s core program areas including workforce development. Workforce 2030 is a cornerstone initiative in Ontario, exemplary of the approach CaGBC is advancing to catalyze workforce development.

This role is subject to continued project funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnering and Learning

  • Support strategies that establish, recommend, or lead the implementation of coalitions and alliances required to achieve CaGBC strategic priorities.
  • Advance coalitions and alliances, including Workforce2030, by convening them to identify and commit to common goals and community economic development, and provide logistical support, tracking deliverables and outcomes from activities.
  • Build stakeholder engagement and maintain relationships with government, industry, academia, unions, labour associations and not-for-profit stakeholders, and articulate project and research value to a variety of audiences.
  • Lead the development of adult education deliverables, including but not limited to low carbon skills research and training needs analysis, development of learning resources and curriculum, workshop design and delivery.

Project Management

  • Manage the implementation of projects and deliverables, including the research, report writing and presentation, participant recruitment and convening, and stakeholder management.
  • Design and complete monitoring and evaluation plans to assess project progress including reports to funder(s), ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met in a timely manner, and oversee project budgets (i.e., staff time allocation and reporting, costs within allotted budget etc.).
  • Ensure progress for achieving project deliverables through regular and timely project reviews, and communicating project status, needs and expectations to all CaGBC practice areas, consultants and project partners as needed.
  • Contribute to developing business opportunities that further project objectives and CaGBC’s strategic priorities, and support management and partners in securing project funding, including researching potential funders, and assist with writing proposals and applications.

OTHER RESPONSBILITIES

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities and complete projects and initiatives as assigned by the Supervisor.

SKILLS

  • Experience developing and leading stakeholder engagement processes leveraging approaches such as the Collective Impact Model.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise diplomacy and build rapport as well as maintain effective relationships with employees, government and industry personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience managing the development and delivery of education programs including content, resources, delivery platforms and marketing resources, ideally in adult education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice in recognized instructional design principles.
  • Polished and professional verbal, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, synthesis and written communication skills and the ability to answer questions and solve problems.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and coordinate numerous projects concurrently with conflicting priorities while ensuring a high quality of execution and performance.
  • Knowledge of green building practices, policies and programs considered an asset.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Good judgement, relationship-building skills, and a team player capable of working in a team-oriented, cross-functional and virtual environment.
  • Capacity to complete tasks with a can-do attitude  and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with LEED and/or an interest in the environment, climate action or sustainable building sector knowledge, preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree or diploma in Adult Education or related training, or a Certification in Instructional Design or Learning and Development; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the fields of stakeholder engagement, local community mobilization and/or partnership development.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in designing a broad range of training programs and curriculum development (preferably in a complex operational environment).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing and facilitating training.
  • Bilingual English/French (desirable).
