Member and Market Engagement Specialist

Canada (GBCI CA), to drive program and product awareness.

Reporting to the Head of Client Experience (“Supervisor”), and working with the broader CaGBC Client Experience Team, the Member and Market Engagement Specialist is responsible for carrying out the national and regional execution of member and stakeholder engagement initiatives, plays a key role in driving member and sponsor value creation and acts as an advocate of the benefits and value of membership in the CaGBC. This role interacts with all divisions and levels of the organizations in support of national engagement, market development and Client Experience strategies.


Facilitation & Engagement

  • Develop and facilitate events, forums, workshops and other activities (online and in person) including securing corporate and event sponsorships.
  • Identify opportunities and maintain relationships with CaGBC sponsors, regional stakeholders, clients, funders, contributors and supporters.
  • Lead, administer and/or contribute to Advisory Groups, working groups, task forces and other stakeholder engagement forums in line with CaGBC’s strategic objectives and annual workplans.
  • Support management with business development, including identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals.
  • Serve as an ambassador of CaGBC and participate in external committees and events as directed.
  • Build, track and maintain partnerships and alliances in line with CaGBC’s strategic objectives and annual workplans.


  • Support member recruitment and retention including identifying and closing leads, developing proposals, preparing and delivering member communications and reporting on membership activity.
  • Identify and work with the broader Client Experience Team to develop and deliver new value-added product, programming and service opportunities.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for member requests, service issues and feedback.
  • Engage with regional members to keep them informed of CaGBC’s activities, initiatives and opportunities to participate.

  • Demonstrated polished and professional verbal, interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills and the ability to answer questions and solve problems.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects concurrently.
  • Experience in member services within a not for profit organization and with building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong administration and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills including: Office 365 and database applications. Prior experience with CRM systems is beneficial.
  • Bilingual French and English (verbal and written) preferred.


  • Good judgement, relationship-building skills, and fully capable of working in a team-oriented, virtual environment.
  • Capacity to complete tasks in a self-directed manner.
  • Familiarity with LEED and/or an interest in the environment, climate action or sustainable building.


  • Undergraduate degree or Post-secondary Diploma (3 year) in a related field.
  • Four years of solid business development, market development or stakeholder engagement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
