Green Building Internship available with the Canada Green Building Council Greater Toronto Chapter.
Are you a business professional looking to connect your business learning and experience with your passion for the environment and sustainability?
The Canada Green Building Council Greater Toronto Chapter is seeking a Green Building Intern with experience in PR, communications and marketing and ideally a background in environmental studies, sustainability or green-tech to work directly with our Executive Director in developing green building programs and projects for our membership and the greater benefit of the green building industry in greater Toronto. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director to build momentum for the renewed Greater Toronto Chapter.
Duties will include:
Marketing, Communications, PR:
- Work directly with ED and Executive Committee to develop a marketing and communications plan for the Chapter
- Liaise with third party suppliers on events, marketing, communications and PR initiatives
- Plan, design and execute the development of a member welcome package
- Develop formal contacts in the media and build a media contact directory
- Work with key Chapter speakers on basic media training
- Develop an experts registry of “good talkers”
- Develop and manage a professional green building “Speakers Bureau” of Chapter members who are experts and can speak on a wide range of issues in the green building sector
- Work with ED to evaluate email communications tools for Chapter
- Develop and manage an email and online newsletter
- Help inject fresh life into our Web site on an ongoing basis:
- Plan and develop a community forum section on the Chapter Web site
- Copy edit and approve member submitted content
- Keep site up to date with new content such as events, case studies, news etc.
- Liaise with Web developer on physical improvements to Web site as required
Events Planning and Project Management:
- Develop, coordinate and carry out member meetings and events
- Member relations management
- Respond to membership inquiries
- Maintain membership database
- Develop email communications plan and follow through with a periodic member email newsletter
- Staff trade shows displays and represent the Chapter at industry events
- Coordinate Chapter volunteer opportunities and lead volunteers on Chapter projects
Chapter Administration:
- Maintain electronic contact database (members, associates, sponsors, etc)
- Coordinate internal and external meetings (board meetings, member meetings, staff meetings) and managing meeting records
- Accounting ( keep detailed records of expenses / revenues; banking; process invoices, etc)
- Respond to email and telephone inquiries
