May 31
RailTown Studios Roof Garden
Invitation to The Second Annual Railtown studios Roof garden Fertility Festival Saturday the 31st of May, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Railtown Studios looks out on to Vancouver Harbour at the east end of
Gastown, at 321 Railway Street at Gore Streets. 'Railtown' has one of the
most spectacular green roofs so far created. Please join us to celebrate the
10th Anniversary since our garden was built! This celebration also has
significance to the broader municipal sustainability movement on the West
Coast because this was the first green roof formally designated by the City
of Vancouver (by Council). And in the coming years, the garden will warrant more research, monitoring, design, care, creativity and resources
(especially related to new plants that can survive in the salty winds that
come off the Harbour). Come up on the roof and learn about and contribute
expertise and ideas for the further 'growing' of this green roof.

practicalities:
As part of this green roof is a pavilion with a one hundred and eighty
degree view of Vancouver Harbour, Stanley Park, and the North Shore with one washroom with toilet and a kitchen sink (but no stove). There is one
barbeque so there may be a line-up for cooking. There will be an excess of
spearmint so drinks that use fresh mint, such as mojitos, are particularly
appropriate.
