VANCOUVER, MARCH 17 2008 – The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) is working with leading commercial property owners in the development of a new building performance tracking and management model.
Through their participation in the LEED Canada Initiative pilot projects, owners and managers of commercial buildings from across the country are testing the design of new energy measurement and efficiency data analysis tools and web-based delivery. Participants will also inform the building performance baselines that will be integrated to the next generation of the LEED Canada green building rating system to be launched in Spring 2009.
“The CaGBC is conducting this pilot program to ensure the next generation of the rating system fully meets the needs of Canada’s commercial building owners and managers. The input and collaboration from pilot participants is instrumental to the design of a system that will support their efforts in the continuous improvement of their building performance,” says Thomas Mueller, president and CEO of the CaGBC. “The pilot for commercial buildings is one of a series of pilot programs the CaGBC is spearheading between now and 2010, as part of the multi-year development of the next generation of LEED Canada.”
