Lisa Bate is an Architect, Interior Designer, Evidence Based Design Accredited and Certified Professional, LEED AP, Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and is the Chair of the CaGBC. Lisa is a Past President of the Ontario Association of Architects and the only architectural representative to the Canadian National Roundtable for Sustainable Infrastructure. She is a Senior Principal of B+H Architects, a leading Canadian architectural, planning, interior design and landscape architectural practice of over 300 staff headquartered in
Toronto with offices in Vancouver, Singapore, Shanghai, Vietnam, India and the UAE. Lisa combines her holistic design skills with 24 years of experience in directing the momentum of client services and project management from feasibility studies, risk investment analysis to high performance building returns.

Troy Braithwaite (vice-chair) MBA
Govan Brown Construction Management Seat: Retail, Construction and Products
Troy has been in development and construction for over 10 years. Troy is currently a Partner with Govan Brown Construction Management overseeing operations for most of Western Canada. Troy received his MBA from Queens University and as a LEED A.P. through his work at Govan Brown contributes to leading and accelerating the transformation to high-performing, healthy green buildings.

Kevin Cail
LaFarge North America Seat: Retail, Construction & Products Kevin Cail is presently Director of Sustainability and Innovation for North America located in Washington, DC and is responsible for Lafarge’s marketing efforts. As Director, his main role is to work on key marketing and innovation projects throughout the four Business Units of Lafarge North America, Cement Division. In addition he is also responsible to develop and initiate Lafarge’s sustainability
activities for the Cement Division in North America. He also manages and develops policy and direction related to those activities. He is an active member of the sustainability committees for the Portland Cement Association and the Strategic Development Council of the American Concrete Association working on issues related to industry and sustainability.

 Brian Denney B. Sc. Eng, P. Eng
Toronto + Region Conservation Authority
Brian has been employed at TRCA since 1973 in several positions and CAO since 2003. Led development of waterfront parks ,extensive shoreline protection works, flood protection and erosion control projects, land acquisition and conservation park development. Contributed to development and implementation of TRCA’s sustainability strategy entitled, “The Living City”. Major green building initiatives: “Mayors’ Megawatt Challenge, Sustainable Schools, Greening Retail, Greening Healthcare, Archetype Sustainable House and Pearson Eco-Business Zone.”
Received “Green Building Advocate” award from CaGBC and “Lifetime Achievement Award” from Sustainable Buildings Canada. Led the bid process to establish the Secretariat for the World Green Building Council, hosted by TRCA.

Marten Duhoux (Chapter Representative) ir., AIA, LEED AP BD+C, ID+C
Friesen Tokar Architects + Landscape + Interior Designers Marten Duhoux is the chair of the Manitoba Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council and the Chair of the Leaders Forum for the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). He works as a project architect at Friesen Tokar Architects + Landscape + Interior Designers (ft3). Marten graduated with a master of science in architecture from Delft University in the Netherlands and he worked on projects in the Europe, USA and
Canada. Projects types have ranged from institutional to multi unit residential and educational to community projects focusing on sustainability and design.

Anthony Esposti (Treasurer) B. Comm. (honours)

Anthony Esposti is a financing professional with over 20 years experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial banking. A graduate of Lakehead University he has been with the Business Development Bank of Canada for more than 8 years after a career in Canada’s Chartered Banks for more than 14 years. In addition to his activities providing financing to BDC’s largest Corporate borrowers, he is a member of BDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility Advisory Council. The Council’s activities help direct CSR
policy at BDC; in particular, addressing the influence bank can have on issues surrounding climate change.

Mark Gorgolewski B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIP ARCH, LEED® AP

Seat: Academia, Research and Policy
Mark Gorgolewski has worked for many years as an architect, researcher and environmental consultant to the construction industry. He has published many books, articles and papers on issues of sustainable design. He is a Director of the CaGBC and past Chair of the Association for Environment Conscious Building in the UK.
Mark is the Program Director for the graduate programme in the building science of sustainable design at Ryerson University. His research includes sustainable housing, reuse of resources, urban agriculture and the design of cities. He was coordinator for one of the winning teams in the CMHC Equilibrium (net zero energy) Housing Competition and co-recipient of the 2007-2008 ACSA/AIA Housing Design Education Award. Most recently he has been curator and author of the Carrot City exhibition and book.

Mark Laroche Chartered Director, MBA B. Civil Eng.
Canada Lands Company
Mr. Laroche is the President and CEO of Canada Lands Company, a federal and commercial Crown corporation which carries out real estate activities across Canada, and owns and manages the CN Tower in Toronto. Prior to that, he served for six years as the first Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Gatineau. Mr. Laroche holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Concordia University. In 2010, he obtained the Chartered Director (C.Dir.)
designation from The Directors College (a joint venture of McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada). Mr. Laroche is currently a member of the Board of Bruyère Continuing Care and previously served on other not-for-profit Boards.

Mark is the Director of Sustainability within Morrison Hershfield Consulting Engineers. Mark has been involved in the field since the early 1990’s. Mark volunteers for numerous Boards of local and national green building organizations. Mark is also a building envelope/durability specialist, with focused knowledge on the environmental effects of materials. Mark has worked on over 100 green buildings in North America. Mark is a firm believer in green construction, and the necessity of change in response to climate
change. Mark demonstrates these beliefs by considering environmental effects in all professional and personal decisions.

Gail McBride is the Senior Manager Innovation and Conservation Leadership at BC Hydro. She leads departments with the mandate to advance energy efficiency policies, standards, practices and technologies in BC industry and within BC Hydro. With over 25 years management and marketing experience Gail has worked with private sector, government and international financial organizations. Prior to BC Hydro, Gail held senior management positions at McKesson Medical Imaging, GenoLogics, H.A. Simons Ltd. (now AMEC), and the BC government
economic development and trade ministries. She is currently on the boards of the Canada Green Business Council and The Minerva Foundation for BC Women.

Blair joined Busby Perkins+Will in 2009 as Senior Principal responsible for engineering and energy systems. He uses his extensive knowledge of sustainable engineering to provide high-level overview regarding the integration of architectural and mechanical systems, drawing from his work on a number of projects targeting LEED Platinum and beyond.

Seat: Real Estate Managers, Owners, and TenantsChristopher is a principal in EcoCité Developments, an innovative developer of green real estate. EcoCité also collaborates and consults to make great green development ideas happen. Christopher led with the first EcoCondo® project, “Habitat 1” in Montreal in 2002, followed by EcoCité on the Canal, in Ottawa, and Abondance Montreal, Canada's first 100% solar condo project,
and a LEED for Homes pilot project.
He brings this hands-on experience with non-profit organizations, as a director of BioRegional North America, and member of the LEED-NC Design and Construction Taskforce. He enjoys teaching, presenting at conferences, and speaking to the media about sustainable communities.

MTS Allstream & University of Manitoba

In her position with MTS Allstream, Joanne is responsible for planning, strategy and administration in support of corporate accommodations and building operations. Joanne holds an MFM (Master of Facility Management, 1998) from the University of Manitoba, where she has, for the last 11 years, been a faculty member, holding down a full time position out in the industry, and teaching future designers and architects how to incorporate and retrofit green design principles and materials into existing building structures and
operating systems. Joanne worked from the N.W.T. to Newfoundland, with the HBC’s original Northern Stores on opening and retrofit project teams. After 15 years with the Province of Manitoba’s Accommodation Division, she launched her next career as a facility management and real estate strategy specialist, as principal of Infinity Management, in which her current role as a partner has been scaled down to allow for commitments to both the U of M & MTS Allstream Inc. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, Joanne has a strong social & sustainability agenda.
