Higher Education Initiatives
The CaGBC is pleased to officially announce the launch of the CaGBC Higher Education Program into its Education and Training sector. The CaGBC recognizes that if fundamental building-industry transformation is to be accomplished that it must begin by educating university and college students; industry change will ultimately depend on the leadership of the green building professionals. This Higher Education initiative makes available the only CaGBC approved full-semester courses for post-secondary education.
There are many advantages of delivering the CaGBC Higher Education courses:
- Course material that is relevant and reflect ongoing advances in the green building industry in Canada;
- Content that prepares your students to take the LEED Professional Accreditation exam;
- Instructors that have met criteria established by CaGBC to deliver the courses;
- Education that prepares your students to meet the needs and expectations of current or future employers;
- CaGBC approved content that can be delivered with no investment in course content or material, and is in accordance with copyright and trademark laws as they relate to LEED.
In 2011 the CaGBC made available three higher education courses for delivery:
- LEED Green Building Strategies and Green Associate exam preparation course (36 hours)
- Building Green with LEED: LEED Canada for New Construction 2009 (36 hours)
- Building Green with LEED: LEED Green Associate study course (2 days course and only available for full-time student delivery)
Consistent with CaGBC’s desire to have a geographically diverse selection of institutions delivering the Building Green with LEED courses, CaGBC Higher Education is inviting universities and colleges interested in participating in the 2011 delivery to please contact Higher Education.
Give your students the opportunity to build Canada’s sustainable building future!
