Last year the CaGBC worked with Interface to host the first annual Legacy Event. This event provides a special opportunity for delegates to spend the day prior to the National Conference giving back to the community and making a lasting change on the chosen site. Our delegates work with volunteers, site residents, and city professionals to help renovate and rejuvenate a local community space.

This year’s Legacy Event will take place on Monday June 2nd, 2014 as a pre-conference event to our Building Lasting Change Conference in Toronto. There is no cost to participate; we just need your time and enthusiasm to keep building lasting change in our communities. Participants will be required onsite for the full day; approx. 8am-4pm (exact times to be confirmed).

This year’s project site is Alexandra Park; a vibrant downtown community bordered by Spadina Ave., Queen St W., Dundas St W., and Bathurst St.  Volunteers will be participating in projects such as indoor painting of the community centre space, outdoor gardening, planter box building, and outdoor bench building. More details to be confirmed as we get closer to the event.
