Green Building Breakfast Event (Zero Carbon)

The focus of this breakfast event is on the new Zero Carbon Buildings Framework.  This framework is the first stage of a broader CaGBC Zero Carbon Buildings Initiative to champion the move to lower-carbon commercial, institutional and high-rise residential buildings in support of Canada’s efforts to reduce GHG emissions by 30 per cent by 2030. Join keynote Mark Hutchinson Vice President of Green Building Programs for the CaGBC and Chair of the USGBC LEED Steering Committee to learn more about this framework and the next phases of the Zero Carbon Initiative including the identification of specific pathways to zero carbon, a zero carbon building pilot program, and the development of a verification program to be completed and launched by CaGBC by the end of the second quarter of 2017.

 May-June National Conference: Building Lasting Change (Vancouver)
Building Lasting Change is Canada’s largest green building conference and is known for activating connections, delivering world class learning opportunities and cultivating inspiration and innovation.

Building actionable solutions to climate change is the focus of Building Lasting Change 2017, with the goal of engaging the members and stakeholders of the Canadian building industry in the fight to reduce GHG emissions.

The time has come to bring human health and comfort to the forefront of building practices and reinvent buildings that are not only better for the planet—but also for people.  This session will introduce how to accomplish this using the WELL Building Standard as the framework.

 Oct Green Building Breakfast Event (Existing Building Deep Retrofits)

Located in downtown Ottawa, 270 Albert Street is a 14-storey, 164,000 square foot office tower, asset managed by Blackwood Partners Inc. The project is the first LEED v4 certification for an existing building in Canada. Having undergone several major retrofits since the building was constructed in 1975, the multi-tenant building now has an impressive energy use intensity of 20 ekWh/sf and an ENERGY STAR® score of 91. Find out how they did it, what they learned and whether or not it was worth it from key stakeholders involved in the project.

Prepare to take your LEED® Green Associate exam and earn the internationally recognized LEED v4 Green Associate credential.

CaGBC has developed this condensed 1-day course which will be delivered by highly-qualified Canadian instructors with real-life local and regional experience. This course is intended to provide you with foundational information, which will then be followed up with a post-course study plan.

 Jan 2018  Green Building Showcase 
The annual Green Building Showcase is the Chapter’s largest networking event of the year bringing together more than 150 industry leaders and supporters. Each year, the Chapter hosts its annual Innovation Awards program that distinguishes individuals, projects and companies throughout Eastern Ontario and Gatineau that go beyond the normal scope of sustainable best practices. The event includes a keynote, social and award ceremony.
