About Us

Who are we?

The Ottawa Region Chapter has been around for over ten years. It started in 2003 as the National Capital Green Building Association and became an affiliate of CaGBC National in 2006. Today the chapter is part of CaGBC’s national chapter network and is responsible for representing the voices of its local membership and to identify local issues and opportunities throughout Eastern Ontario.

We drive change

We work with both government and private enterprise to accelerate the adoption of green building principles, policies, standards and tools. We do this through high profile events that give back to the local community.

We build community

The chapter stands beside and works closely with like-minded organizations in the transformation of buildings, neighborhoods and cities. We do this by engaging members and creating opportunities for collaboration and spaces for creativity and debate. We mobilize and empower local communities to advocate local government for greener buildings, cities and neighbourhoods.

Our impact

The Canada Green Building Council – Ottawa Chapter is the region’s leading authority on green building best practices. Representing 50 firms and over 250 green building professionals our members are involved in virtually every green building construction and renovation project in the region.

We are Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec’s leading source for education, training, and leading-edge green building information and resources. Over the last ten years we have organized hundreds of events and supported individuals in creating one of the most sustainable and beautiful regions in Canada.
