The Leadership Board establishes regional strategies, initiatives and priorities, and contributes to the advancement of the nationwide mission and strategic goals by working collaboratively with CaGBC staff and the Chapter Advisory Committee (a committee of the CaGBC Board of Directors), demonstrating strategic leadership, collective decision-making and representing a diversity of opinions and perspectives.
Following are the five nominees vying for three (3) positions on the Chapter Leadership Board for three-year terms.
Greg brings extensive urban design expertise and over 15 years of experience in land use planning and landscape architecture. He draws on a depth of experience serving private and public sector clients in Canada, Europe and South East Asia. He provides specific expertise in the sustainable design and development area.
Recently, Greg has led the planning for a number of industrial developments in the Capital Region and other areas of Alberta for public and private sector clients. With expertise in Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and transit planning, Greg led the land use planning analysis to determine routes for extension of the City of Edmonton’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. He has also participated in—and led—the research, design, policy development and project management of plans for several large greyfield and brownfield redevelopment areas in downtown Edmonton.
He is a member of a variety of professional organizations including his role as an Executive Committee member of the Urban Development Institute. Greg is actively involved in planning education, delivering courses for the University of Alberta’s planning, applied land use planning, and geography programs. He assisted with the certification for the Olds College Rural Land Use Planning Diploma Program.
Susan is a Sustainability Specialist in the Building Specialty Services group with more than eight years of experience managing sustainability-focused projects and providing expert guidance to successfully achieve green building certification targets. In her role, Susan focuses on integrated design to attain clarity around green building objectives. Her contribution on projects is client-focused, detailed and professional.
Susan is also the national team leader on assessments of LEED®-NC, LEED®-CS, LEED®-CI and LEED®-EBOM projects for various building types on behalf of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). She has completed more than 700 LEED®-NC/CS/CI and 60 LEED®-EBOM reviews to date. Her involvement in the evaluation of hundreds of LEED® project submissions enables Susan to provide a key advantage to project teams. She has reviewed multiple design approaches on a number of project building types; this qualifies her to provide expert guidance on the most successful LEED® credit strategies that can be achieved in the most efficient way. Susan also actively participates on CaGBC Site and Water Technical Advisory Group (TAG) as a committee member and discusses high-level issues to decide on Credit Interpretation Request (CIR) rulings. Susan’s close working relationship with the CaGBC allows her to access guidance for occasional project approach consultation.
Erik is an experienced professional with a proven track record in green building consulting.
During a 14-year career, Erik has acquired valuable experience in the design and construction of sustainable buildings and systems. With a strong client focus, Erik has helped teams meet their sustainability goals across a variety of building types and contract models. When not making buildings better, he can be found outside of them.
Dr. Azzeddine Oudjehane has over 20 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary projects in R&D, business innovation and market development working with various stakeholders from Academia, Government and Industry.
Azzeddine is the principal of AZZO Consulting and is currently teaching construction project management courses at SAIT. In 2012, Azzeddine joined the first undergraduate BSc in Construction Project Management in Canada. Azzeddine strives through teaching excellence to train the next generation of construction project managers in Alberta and Canada, while developing scholarly applied research that meets the needs of the Alberta industries. He has also led and supported various applied research projects demonstrating the feasibility and value of sustainable practices in construction and deconstruction.
With over 50 publications and presentations at international conferences, Dr. Oudjehane serves in various journal review committees and has chaired sessions at conferences. He was first elected to the Alberta Chapter Leadership Board in 2014.
As Director of Development, Cam Haldane acts as a representative and liaison for Qualico Commercial’s Edmonton office. He touches on all aspects of project development, from design and construction through to property management and tenant coordination. He leads Qualico Commercial to the forefront of sustainability and encourages the development team to explore new technologies, materials and methods to constantly improve on the products and services they deliver.
Cam is an enthusiastic participant in the community, lending his time to various charitable and not for profit groups, as well as for industry organizations which advocate on behalf of real estate development and related professionals.
Away from work, Cam also involves himself in a number of sports, such as hockey, golf and cross country skiing.
